Preclinical Proof in Multiple Degenerative Disease Models

Mitochondrial loss of function resulting from lipid peroxidation toxicity has recently been observed in many serious and untreated degenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetic retinopathy, and other mitochondrial myopathies.  Retrotope has amassed compelling pre-clinical data showing that the beneficial therapeutic effects of stabilized fatty acid treatment may be broadly applicable to such diseases. Optimized versions of the specific fatty acid drug can be developed for individual tissue types, each of which utilizes a different polyunsaturated fatty acids in membranes.
